Baseball is Back

Despite the cold weather, warmer temperatures must be coming soon. That's because the new baseball season for the Quad Cities River Bandits, and the Midwest League, opens Thursday. Once again, the team is affiliated with the Houston Astros, and the parent team has sent some of its top prospects to the River Bandits, including Carlos Correa (cor-EE-uh), the number one pick in the recent draft.

Manager Omar Lopez says it'a an "honor" to coach such a highly-regarded player. One expert ranks the young infielder from Puerto Rico the number one prospect in the Astros minor league system, and number 13 in all of baseball.

The River Bandits start the new season Thursday night, at Kane County, and continue the weekend series through Sunday, then travel to Burlington on Monday for three games. Their home opener will be next Thursday (4/11) against Peoria.
