Augustana Names New Head Coach

Augustana College

A former assistant will return to Augustana College as head coach for its women's track and cross country teams. Wednesday the college announced the hiring of David Thompson.

He'll replace Fred Whiteside who's retiring, after serving as an assistant to Whiteside from 2003 to 2007.
A graduate of North Central College in Naperville, Thompson has also coached at Ashford University in Clinton, the University of Dubuque, and at the Oswego campus of the State University of New York.
And for the last two seasons, he served as men's track coach at Williams University in Massachusetts.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
