One bridge project is done, and one is now underway, but Quad Cities residents can look forward to more bridge work and traffic delays, at least through the summer. That was the report Tuesday to the transportation technical committee of the Bi-State Regional Commission.
Director of Planning, Gena McCullough, says probably by early June, drivers can expect lane closures on the Centennial Bridge so contractors can finish the repairs that began last year.
And work has already started to fix the ramps from downtown Bettendorf to the I-74 bridge.
Already completed are repairs to the I-80 bridge, and work started this week on a key intersection on Arsenal Island between Government Bridge and the Rock Island Viaduct - closing the viaduct, and restricting Government Bridge to Arsenal traffic only.
Despite all of this work, there'll probably be less pain for local drivers - remember last year when the Centennial Bridge closed completely for more than two months.
