WIU-QC Phase 2

January  16, 2013

Within several months, Western Illinois University will begin building phase 2 of its riverfront campus in Moline. The Illinois Capital Development Board recently selected Bush Construction of Davenport to be the general contractor for the 42 million dollar project.

Bill Brewer is the university architect, and director of facilities for WIU in the Quad Cities. He says once final details are worked out with the contractor, then materials can be ordered and work can begin, probably in the spring.
The three inter-connected new buildings will be located just west of Building One, which opened one year ago, and along River Drive in Moline.

Brewer expects phase 2 to be completed by the summer of next year (2014). It will houze academic programs for the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Services, and Fine Arts and Communication.
