Trinity Expansion Groundbreaking
June 05, 2013
UnityPoint Health Trinity broke ground Wednesday for an expansion of its hospital in Rock Island. The 61 million dollar project will include an addition to the Heart Center and Emergency Department.
UnityPoint Health - Trinity President and CEO, Rick Seidler, said the expansion is critically important to the success of the hospital.
"Having an emergency department that has the size, facilities, equipment, and capability," said Seidler, "to accept a large number, a growing number, or patients, and the complexity of those patients that come through the emergency department."
The hospital is halfway toward its goal of raising six million dollars from the community. Today (Wed) Advanced Radiology in Moline announced a gift of 250-thousand dollars for the project. Doctor Pranav Patel said Advanced Radiology makes this donation as a member of the community.
"As Americans and Quad Citians," said Patel, "we have to decide how to take care of each other and how to support the infrastructure which we often times see crumbling around us. Trinity Hospital does an excellent job day to day, maintaining the quality and care of its patients. The physicians and support staff do an excellent job in day-to-day healthcare. But it takes the community rallying around healthcare systems like this to maintain these systems, and keep it looking forward many years to come."
Construction on the 90-thousand square foot facility is scheduled to be completed within two years.
