The Quad Cities annual "adventure triathlon" will move to a new location this year. On Friday, River Action announced the Taming of the Slough will be held in East Moline and Hampton in September, instead of in Moline.
Executive director, Kathy Wine, says the mountain bike portion of the triathlon was held on Sylvan Island, but now that the bridge to the island has been closed, the whole course had to move. Participants will canoe and kayak around Campbell's Island, race their mountain bikes through the Illiniwek Forest Preserve, and race on foot through Empire and Heritage Parks.
Wine says in recent years an average of 200 people have competed in the Taming of the Slough.
River Action will also hold three training sessions so participants can check out the new course - on August 22nd and 29th, and on September 5th. Taming of the Slough will be held September 14th.
