RME Fund Raising Campaign

As it celebrates its tenth anniversary, the River Music Experience in Davenport is hoping to insure its long-term health. This week it officially began a major fund-raising campaign called "RME Strong " - its goal is 400,000 dollars over three years.
CEO Deb Sandry Powers says 100,000 dollars would be set aside for operations, 160,000 to pay off debt, and the rest would help the RME buy new equipment.
"What we've done over the past year - the board and staff have really come together in defining what our role is here. And that role in the community is definitely live entertainment - attracting artists who are bound to the root music of our history coming up the Mississippi River - bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock, country, and folk."
The River Music Experience also sponsors a variety of music outreach programs, plus private lessons and rock camp. It is also a key part of the Davenport School District's new Creative Arts Academy that opened this month.
As part of the new fund-raising campaign, the RME also hopes to double its membership.
