Thanks to heavy rainfall today, the Mississippi River is rising faster, and will go higher, then predicted only just this morning. The National Weather Service now says the river has reached flood stage in the Quad Cities, and will rise four more feet through Saturday night. This morning, the prediction was for a crest one foot over flood stage by the weekend.
The Mississippi has also reached flood stage at Muscatine, and a crest is expected on Sunday five feet above flood stage.
At Joslin, the Rock River is 1 1/2 feet over flood stage, and it will probably rise 5 feet, through Sunday night. While downstream at Moline, the Rock is at flood stage now, and it's expected to rise more than 3 feet nd crest Sunday night.
