New Leader for First Army
August 05, 2013
One of the commands on Arsenal Island has a new leader. On Friday, Michael Tucker was promoted to Lieutenant General and assumed command of First Army. The ceremony was held in the Pentagon, and an assumption of command ceremony here has not yet been scheduled.
During his 34 year career in the Army, Tucker has held a variety of staff and command positions, including his most recent as assistant deputy chief of staff for Army Operations and Training.
He replaces acting commander Major General Kevin Wendel who's been in charge of First Army since March when Lieutenant General Mick Bednarek left to become chief of the Office of Security Cooperation in Baghdad.
First Army is responsible for mobilizing and training all National Guard and Army Reserve forces.
