Mallards Retire Stewart's Number

January  04, 2013

The team's all-time leading scorer will be honored tonight by the Quad City Mallards. The number 18 worn by Glenn Stewart will be retired, and a replica of his jersey will be raised into the rafters of the I Wireless Center in Moline.

Stewart played four seasons for the Mallards, from 1996 through 2000, scoring 218 goals and adding 211 assists. His teams won two league championships, and advanced to the finals in the other two years. After playing for nine pro seasons, Stewart began coaching at the college level, and is now associate head hockey coach at Merrimack College in Massachusetts.

Stewart's number is the fourth to be retired by the Mallards - his will join the numbers worn by teammates Kerry Toporowski, Mark McFarlane, and Steve Gibson.
