Deere & Company Layoffs in Iowa
August 22, 2014
Deere and Company has announced another round of layoffs--this time at one of its factories in Iowa. Today, the company told 460 employees at the Waterloo plant that they will be indefinitely laid off, starting October 20th.
The decision comes less than two weeks after Deere announced lower third quarter earnings, and that the company would have to respond to lower demand for farm equipment.
Then last week, Deere announced plans to lay off over 600 employees at four farm equipment factories, including the John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline and Deere Seeding and Cylinder in Moline.
The other plants affected are in Ankeny, Iowa and Coffeeville, Kansas.
