Davenport Flood Update

June  05, 2013

One week after putting up a temporary floodwall along River Drive in downtown Davenport, crews will begin removing it. Removal of the Hesco barriers on River Drive near Perry and Pershing streets began today, and the busy street should re-open on Friday.

Last week, the National Weather Service predicted the river would crest this week in the Quad Cities at 2.3 feet over flood stage, so the city put up flood control measures for a level of four feet over flood stage.  Since then, mostly-dry weather has resulted in a revised forecast of just 1.5 feet over flood stage Thursday.

At Modern Woodmen Park, water covers part of the street along the west side of the stadium, but has not risen high enough to affect the main entrances for players and fans.
