Carp Madness Part 1
Like Illinois, the State of Kentucky is trying to get rid of Asian carp. So, last week, its Fish and Wildlife Resources department hosted a commercial fishing tournament to see who could net the largeset haul of the invasive species. "Carp Madness" was held at Kentucky and Barkley lakes, about 35 miles from southern Illinois.
On today's WVIK News Focus, Michelle O'Neill talks with Kentucky Fisheries Director, Ron Brooks, who came up with the idea. (Listen on the audio player under the image.)
Tuesday at 7:35 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., we will broadcast the second part of Michelle's conversation with him, including what prevents Kentucky, Illinois and other states from eradicating Asian carp.
More information is available at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
