A New Brand for the QCCVB
September 18, 2013
After nearly a year of surveys, interviews, and research, the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau has chosen a new logo and slogan. They were unveiled today at the annual meeting. Each letter in the word "quad" is in a different color, with a 5th color for the word "cities." And in between is the bureau's website, and along the bottom is the slogan "Marvels on the Mississippi."
Nancy Ballenger, chair of the group's marketing committee, says research showed one of the most important features of the Quad Cities is the Mississippi River - for visitors and local residents.
"Whether being in it, being around it, or being beside it. The festivals and special events - almost all of them talked about there's always something going on. And the price - it's very affordable. And much to our surprise, it's very easy to get around in the community. They said people were so friendly."
She calls the new tag-line "unique, eye-catching, and modern."
"And then with "Marvels on the Mississippi" we just thought it's so versatile and so flexible. You know, " tell us about your marvelous experience, did you h ave a marvelous time ?" So we just think it allows a lot of chatter, a lot of communication to go on, and just in a very fund way."
The Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau also unveiled several possible advertising concepts, using the new logo, and aimed at young people, convention planners, and baby boomers.
