Davenport officials are assuring residents the city is "open for business" despite more flooding in the forecast. That was the message from Mayor Frank Klipsch Monday, who says the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities is expected to keep rising this week.

Crews in Davenport will place "high water" signs near the Mississippi River today, to prepare for potential flooding next week. Friday morning, the Mississippi is about three feet below flood stage. But, it's expected to start rising slowly Saturday afternoon.

Heavy rains this week in northeast Iowa are pushing up the level of the Mississippi River and the city of Davenport is starting to take flood protection measures.

The Mississippi River is rising and Davenport is preparing for minor flooding. The National Weather Service says the river should reach flood stage in the Quad Cities early next week.
