Good news for local motorists - the lane closures on the Centennial Bridge between Rock Island and Davenport will end on Friday. Weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation says the contractor doing repairs on the bridge will complete the final pavement markings, and remove the barriers.

Even though all four lanes will be open to traffic, the two year, 3.3 million dollar repair project isn't quite finished. But the remaining work can be done underneath the bridge, without restricting traffic.

Moline Historic Preservation Commission

The Moline Historic Preservation Commission is making "one last effort" to save a 115-year-old train depot. That follows an announcement last week from the Illinois Department of Transportation, saying it will not pay to move the depot on River Drive, to make way for the new I-74 bridge.

Lane closures will continue on the Centennial Bridge longer than expected.

Originally, the Illinois Department of Transportation said the final stages of the two-year repair project would end this week, and all four lanes would be re-open. But now the completion date has been pushed back two weeks. The DOT blames what it calls "complications" with the final repairs. It does say however, equipment will be moved off the bridge this weekend for the Quad Cities Marathon.
