On Midwest Week, with the season nearly over, the Quad City Mallards learn they, and the team, will not return in the fall.


Hockey returns to the Quad Cities this weekend. The Mallards will begin their 21st season overall, and 4th in the ECHL, with home games against Toledo and Tulsa.

The Quad City Mallards have officially begun preparing for the new season - their 21st overall, and fourth in the ECHL. Training camp opened Sunday, and will last for two weeks.

Las Vegas Golden Knights

The Quad City Mallards have joined forces with the newest team in the National Hockey League. Thursday the Mallards announced they've signed a multi-year affiliation agreement with the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

With a weak record and worried about making the playoffs, the Quad City Mallards have made a major change in personnel. Friday coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski was fired, and replaced by his assistant Phil Axtell.

Hockey Season Imminent

Quad City Mallards coach Terry Ruskowski has signed a contract extension, and could lead the team for 3 more seasons. That was the announcement today during the annual media day, as the team prepares for the new ECHL season that starts this weekend. 

This would have been the final year of his old contract, but he's agreed to continue coaching through the 2016-2017 season, with an option for one more after that.

Training camp opened today for the Quad City Mallards, as they begin preparing for the new season. They'll practice at the I Wireless Center in Moline and River's Edge in Davenport.

The Mallards will play just one exhibition game, on October 11, on the road, then open their second season in the ECHL on October 16 at Allen.Their home opener is set for the following weekend, October 23.
