News headlines for the morning of November 22, 2017

  • Deere and Company is recovering from three years of a global farm recession and weak construction markets. In an earnings report released Wednesday morning, the companyreports a sales and revenue increase of 23 percent for the quarter and 12 percent for the fiscal year that ended October 31.

  • Governing bodies from Davenport, Bettendorf and Scott County have voted to limit the use of fireworks next year for the Fourth of July and New Year's Eve.

  • The new defense bill may bringmore business and people to the Rock Island Arsenal. That's the goal of a key provision sponsored by Congresswoman Cheri Bustos of East Moline. It would require the miliary to first use space at existing bases and facilities before going elsewhere.

  • Today, the Augustana College men's basketball team is on the road in Champaign to take on the Fighting Illini. It's the first time the schools will face each other since the 1937-1938 season.
