UTHS To Dedicate Wall of Heroes

UTHS

With help from alumni and students, a new plaque will be mounted on the wall in front of the Hall of Fame at United Township High School in East Moline.

The "UTHS Wall of Heroes" will list the names of men and women who died while serving in the US military, and who attended the school.

It will include 52 names - from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

The bronze plaque, scheduled to be mounted next week, is a joint project of the Class of 1967, the United Education Foundation, and UT students - art students helped design it and the mounting frame was designed and built by Industrial Arts classes.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
