The state of Iowa wants to help a Massachusetts-based company build a new plant in the Quad Cities. Friday the board of the Iowa Economic Development Authority approved assistance for Sterilite Corporation.
It makes plastic storage containers and wants to build a new, 73 million dollar plant in northwest Davenport that will eventually employ 500 people.
The board approved 1 million dollars in "direct financial assistance" and tax benefits.
The Economic Development Authority board also approved assistance for a project in DeWitt. Latham Pool Products is the largest maker of swimming pool components and accessories in North America, and it would like to build a manufacturing plant and distribution facility in DeWitt, costing about 2 million dollars. It would create 23 jobs.
Latham will receive tax benefits through Iowa's High Quality Jobs program.
