This weekend a local charity is asking you to place your bets on "Soup or Bowls". On Saturday, Discounted Furniture in Rock Island will collect canned food and other donations for Christian Care Homeless Men's Shelter downtown and QC Paws Animal Shelter in Moline.
Pam Hauman from Christian Care hopes Super Bowl weekend will put people in the mood for giving.
"Folks are generally stocking up on their own snacks for home, either for their families of parties, so its just an extra incentive to put things to good cause."
Donations for Soup or Bowls will be accepted Saturday from Noon to 5 pm at the Rock Island Hyvee on 18th Ave.
