Rock River Bike Riders Finish 320-Mile Trip

The inaugural Rock River Trail Ride ended Thursday afternoon at the confluence with the Mississippi in the Quad Cities. On the final day of their trip, Dan Libman, who teaches English at Northern Illinois University, and Carl Nelson, a WNIJ producer rode their bicycles from Prophetstown to the Hennepin Canal in Milan.

On Sunday, Libman and Nelson started in Wisconsin and produced stories every day for broadcast on WNIJ, our sister station in Dekalb.

Local Cyclist, Dean "Bareback" Mathias of RAGBRAI fame, presented the two with Rock River Trail Ride patches.

The Milan Chamer of Commerce and the Big Island Soil and Water Preservation Association welcomed Libman and Nelson, providing lunch and smoothies.
