Residents of Rock Island County can help decide the future of the courthouse. Tuesday night the county board will hold a public hearing.

Most offices now in the 121 year old courthouse will move to the new Justice Center annex when it opens next year, so county leaders have to decide whether to demolish it or renovate it for other uses.

County administrator Dave Ross has mentioned the possibility of raising the sales tax to pay for re-habbing the courthouse, with a possible referendum on the ballot next spring (2018).

The county board will take public comments at the beginning of its regular monthly meeting, beginning at 5:30 pm
