This fall, Rock Island County residents will have some extra time to ask questions about their property tax assessments or file an appeal. Tax assessment notices are being mailed this week. And Tuesday, the Rock Island Township Assessor's Office began offering extended hours.
Assessor, Brenda Carmen, says her office expanded hours for the first time last year, after several tax-payers requested more time to receive help filing an appeal.
The Rock Island Township Assessor's Office will now be open until 6 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 9 am to noon on Saturdays. The office will keep extended hours until October 15th-- just before the deadline to file an appeal with the Board of Review, on October 17th.
