RI County Recorder Seeks Second Term

WVIK Staff

Veteran's benefits, electronic documentation, and property fraud alerts. That's all on Kelly Fisher's agenda for another term as Rock Island County Recorder, if she wins re-election.

Today, Fisher announced her plans to win a second term. She plans to offer a new Honors Rewards Service for veterans. Under the program veterans could have their discharge papers recorded, get ID cards, and get discounts at local businesses.

Fisher also wants to put more than 50 percent of property sales, deeds, and other documents online.

Can't record property sales online now, will change that

If elected for a second term as recorder, Fisher would expand the Property Fraud Alert system, which notifies Rock Island County home-owners by phone, e-mail, or text any time their names are mentioned in a real estate document.

A county recorder keeps track of all real estate and military records, as well as marriage licenses and death certificates.

Fisher, a democrat, is currently running un-opposed, and elections will be next spring.
