QC Museum Week Returns

Thanks to its great success last year, Quad Cities Museum Week has returned. The second annual week of promotions and special events begins on Saturday (6/18) and continues through next weekend.

And helping to organize the celebration is the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau. Vice president Charlotte Doehler-Morrison says last year attendance increased at the participating museums by anywhere from 5 to 50 per cent.
The theme for this year's Museum Week is "mysteries," with each museum highlighting something in its collection or building. Doehler-Morrison says the Deere Wiman House and Butterworth Center in Moline will once again host "tunnel tours."

Also, they found some mysterious things in the house.

Eighteen museums will participate in Museum Week this year, ranging from the Figge and Putnam, to the Colonel Davenport House, Iowa 80 Trucking Museum, and Palmer Family and Chiropractic History Museum.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
