QC Alcoa Plant Changes Name to Arconic

The Alcoa factory in Riverdale is now known as the Arconic Davenport Works. As of this morning, Alcoa has been split into two, publicly traded companies. And officials held a ribbon cutting to show off a large sign that features the new logo and name.

Spokesman John Riches says Alcoa now specializes in aluminum, bauxite, and casting operations. And Arconic's business is engineering, transportation, and global rolled products. Forty-one percent of the Quad Cities' plant's business is aerospace.

The 2,600 employees who work at the local aluminum plant received launch boxes with information, T-shirts, and water bottles to help mark the name change. In addition, Riches says the name of the eagle-cam was also changed to Arconic.
