QC Chamber Senior Vice President Rene Gellerman

A new plan to boost the Quad Cities was unveiled Thursday. Led by the Chamber of Commerce, Q2030 is a regional action plan put together by businesses, government, non-profits, and colleges from a six-county region.

Chamber senior vice president Rene Gellerman says after a year and-a-half of meetings and research, they concluded local residents want all these groups to work together.
Gellerman says to make the plan work, we must use our economic strengths to attract and retain companies and jobs, help young people learn useful skills, and make sure the Quad Cities is a "cool place to live" with plenty of cultural and recreational opportunities.

And these changes will only happen if everyone participates.

We all have to show our pride in the Quad Cities.

The goals of Q2030 include adding 54,000 people ages 20 to 34 by the year 2030, and raising per capita income by 20 per cent.

More information is available online at Q2030.org.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
