The City of Davenport hopes its casino will attract new development to Elmore Corners. A Public Meeting will be held Monday evening to discuss the "Master Design Plan" for the area around the Rhythm City Casino. Elmore Corners refers to the intersection of Elmore Avenue and Veterans Memorial Parkway.
The plan sets architectural and design standards for the area. Davenport Senior Planning Manager Matt Flynn says it will ensure predictability, an attractive quality to developers.
"It is pretty inevitable in my opinion that future development will occur in this area and this gives us an opportunity to do it right."
The meeting on Elmore Corners will be held Monday at 6:30 pm at the Eastern Branch of the Davenport Public Library. City officials will give an overview of the plan, propose design standards, and give a timeline for approval. There will also be time for questions and discussion.
