Renaissance Rock Island celebrated more business openings downtown today. Mayor Dennis Pauley and other city officials helped three business owners host ribbon cutting ceremonies this morning, before the weather turned cold.
Jason Wild grew up in Rock Island and founded J Wild Marketing about four years ago, and moved into the McKesson Lofts about a year ago. He specializes in digital marketing.
Carrie and Dave Meumann's photography business is called Avenue Studios, and it's also located in the McKesson building on 19th Street. Carrie says her clients love the big windows, exposed brick walls, a special room for boudoir photos, and a spiral staircase from the old Jumer's hotel. Avenue Studios also offers wedding videos and recently bought a drone to add to its services.
The mayor also helped cut a ribbon at a new candy shop called, Taste Buds, located at 150 16-and-a-half Street, across the street from Bennigan's.
