National Geographic Regional Website Features Mississippi River

National Geographic wants Quad Cities residents to help attract tourists to the Mississippi River. Next week, the organization will host the rollout of its new, regional website which focuses on the great river, and the culture of its cities and towns.

Joe Taylor, from the convention and visitors bureau, says it's only one of National Geographic's 20 geo-tourism projects.

Taylor says it's a no-brainer when an internationally respected organization offers to help with marketing. He's worked for more than two years to help spread the word about the National Geographic project.

Lots of urging locals to get their stuff on the website because I think this will be a really stellar way to market the Mississippi River and its context to the Quad Cities.

National Geographic held meetings in 2014 and last year to teach people and organizations about the project and how to submit information to the website. It's at Mississippi River GeoTourism. The rollout will be held on October 12th at the iWireless Center.
