Volunteer Iowa has named Muscatine resident Tom Hendricks one of Iowa's top volunteers.

A Muscatine man is one of Iowa's top volunteers. Volunteer Iowa announced Thursday the newest members of the Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame.

Tom Hendricks and four other small business owners created Muscatine Charities in 1999. Since then, MCI has raised and distributed over $2 million to local charities. One hundred percent of its funds go to charity.

Hendricks and the other new Hall of Fame members will be honored April 13 at the State Capitol as part of National Volunteer Week.

The Hall of Fame was launched in 1989 and so far has about 160 members. A plaque with the names is on display at the State Historical Museum.
