The City of Moline wants to hear what residents have to say about paying for a redevelopment project downtown. Tuesday night, the city council will hold a public hearing on a proposed tax increment financing district. It would be located between 12th and 21st streets.
Ray Forsythe, Moline's planning and development director, says the TIF district would include 82 parcels of land, all located downtown.
Most of the properties are too expensive to develop privately. And, they have environmental problems such as asbestos and lead paint.
Forsythe says residents won't see a change in their tax bills. Instead, they'll see improvements in the quality of downtown.
The Moline City Council will hold a public hearing tonight at 6:30. Forsythe says aldermen may vote on the TIF district at the end of next month.
