Mississippi River Cresting Just Under 16 Feet in QCs

The Mississippi and Rock rivers appear to be cresting today in the Quad Cities. The Iowa Flood Information System shows the Mississippi at Lock and Dam 15 reached 15 ft., 10 in. overnight and this morning. Flood stage is 15 ft. The National Weather Service forecast says it'll fall to flood stage on Thursday. Moderate flooding is expected along the river at Illinois City, with minor flooding forecast at Muscatine.   

The weather service says major flooding is forecast to continue on the Rock River at Moline and Joslin. In Moline, it's steady at 15.2 ft. and the water should begin to recede overnight. At Joslin, the Rock crested this morning just above 18 ft. and is now receding slowly. Flood stage at both locations is 12 ft.
