Miller Will Lead Iowa Dept. on Aging

LInda Miller

A member of the Iowa legislature from the Quad Cities has resigned to take a new job. Thursday Governor Terry Branstad named State Representative Linda Miller from Bettendorf to be director of the Iowa Department on Aging.

Miller was first elected to the Iowa House in 2006, and decided not to run for re-election this year.
She officially resigned from the legislature Thursday, and starts her new job Friday, succeeding  Donna Harvey who's resigned.

Miller is a registered nurse and prior to serving in the Iowa Legislature, she managed her family’s private practice for 17 years - her husband is a family physician.

In the state house she served as chair of the House Human Resources Committee for six years, and was a member of the Health and Human Services Budget Subcommittee for ten years.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
