Leadership Change at Lee Enterprises

Lee Enterprises

A changing of the guard at Lee Enterprises. Thursday the media company based in Davenport which owns the Quad City Times announced a new leader will take over officially at the annual meeting in February.

Mary Junck, who's served as ceo for 15 years, will become executive chairman of the company, and turn over leadership to Kevin Mowbray - now executive vice president and chief operating officer, he will become president and ceo.

Previously he was publisher of the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch. And began his long career with the company in 1986, selling advertising, in his hometown of Kewanee.

Lee Enterprises owns 46 daily newspapers, and nearly 300 specialty publications, in 22 states.

Its annual meeting will be held February 17th.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
