Kinney Running for Third Term

Karen Kinney

Karen Kinney is running for a third term as Rock Island County Clerk. Wednesday night, she kicked off her re-election campaign with a fundraiser in Rock Island.

A democrat, Kinney was first elected in 2010, and won a second term in 2014.

Among her accomplishments, she lists coming in under budget every year, improving customer service, increasing the number of early voting locations, and  "enthusiastically implementing Civil Union and Marriage Equality laws."

So far she has at least one republican opponent - last month retired Deere executive Russell Christ announced he'll run for county clerk next year.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
