Kehl Family Presents Annual Gifts to Non-profits

Rhythm City Casino Resort

Owners of a Quad Cities casino played Santa Claus Friday. The Kehl Family and staff of the Rhythm City Casino Resort handed out more than 200,000 dollars to local charities.

It was the fourth installment of the family's pledge to give one million dollars over five years to local non-profits.

Humility of Mary Housing, the Humility of Mary Shelter, and Kings Harvest each received 50,000 dollars, and 25,000 each went to Cafe on Vine and Father Conroy's Vineyard of Hope.

In addition to these gifts from the Kehl's, the five also also split 56-hundred dollars donated by guests of the casino and resort in special collection boxes.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
