A long career as one of the top cheerleaders for the Quad Cities is about to end. Thursday the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau announced President and CEO Joe Taylor will retire at the end of the year.

Taylor has been with the bureau for nearly 30 years. He started working in tourism promotion for the city of Galesburg in 1987 and '88, moved to a similar job in Clinton in 1988, then came to the Quad Cities in 1989 when the convention and visitors bureau was formed.

A nationwide search will begin soon to find his replacement.
