Jindal Talks Tax Reform, Immigration in Bettendorf

WVIK Staff

A day after the Democratic candidates debated, Bobby Jindal says the only choice voters have is between "honest socialists and lying conservatives." The Louisiana Governor and GOP presidential candidate campaigned in Bettendorf today.

Jindal says he's "angrier with Republicans" than with Democrats, and criticized the party's inability to de-fund Planned Parenthood.

Jindal also says his tax-reform plan would eliminate the corporate income tax and require all working Americans to pay at least a two-percent income tax.

He says everyone should be paying taxes.

And, Jindal would reform immigration by getting rid of sanctuary cities, and finishing the wall on the Mexican border, which he says can be done in six months.

He also defends the idea of America as a "melting pot" instead of a "mixed salad," adding immigrants should come to the country legally, "learn English, and roll up their sleeves."

Jindal spoke to a crowd of about 50 people at Ross' Restaurant in Bettendorf, and will campaign tomorrow night, at the Davenport Elks Lodge.
