Honor Tour Around the Quad Cities

Veterans who cannot travel to Washington D.C. to see the monuments have an alternative. For the fourth year in a row, Honor flight of the Quad Cities has organized an Honor Tour.

Steve Garrington, director of Honor Flight in the Quad Cities, says they started this tour because fewer people were signing up for the trips to Washington.

"The Honor Tour was designed to take care of some veterans that were falling through the cracks for our honor flight.  We had some veterans because of physical or mental disability were not able to take the flight to Washington D.C. to see the monument and that kind of disturbed us. So we came up with the idea of an honor flight."

Garrington says the tour will include the National Cemetery on Arsenal Island and the Hero Street Monument in Silvis.
