Quad City Mallards coach Terry Ruskowski has signed a contract extension, and could lead the team for 3 more seasons. That was the announcement today during the annual media day, as the team prepares for the new ECHL season that starts this weekend.
This would have been the final year of his old contract, but he's agreed to continue coaching through the 2016-2017 season, with an option for one more after that.
Team president Bob McNamara says Ruskowski has done a great job, leading the Mallards to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons in the Quad Cities.
Ruskowski says he's grateful for the vote of confidence.
Ruskowski is one of the most successful coaches in minor league hockey - during his 20 year career, he's won 693 games and lost 493.
The Mallards open the new season on the road - at Allen and Wichita this weekend, then play their first home games the following weekend, against Tulsa.
