Moline officials plan to be ready for growth when the new I-74 Bridge opens.
And at an open house tonight, the city, Renew Moline, and the Lakota Group want to hear what residents would like to see after the old bridge is torn down.
City Planner, Jeff Anderson, says the land is located under the existing I-74 bridge. And it includes the Mississippi riverfront, plus all the on- and off- ramps downtown.
Anderson says one idea is to build a riverfront park similar to Rock Island's Schwiebert Park. A recent study also shows apartments will be a driver for other development such as retail stores and offices.
People who go to tonight's meeting will be asked to fill out a "visual preference survey."
Tonight's I-74 Corridor Study Open House runs from 5:30 until 8 pm at Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center in Moline, with a short presentation around 5:45.
