Some seniors about to graduate from Moline High School got some practice Thursday marching in their caps and gowns.
Instead of the solemn sound of "Pomp and Circumstance," the graduating seniors marched to something much different - the enthusiastic shouts and applause of children at Jane Addams Elementary School - the school they'd attended.
Children lined the main hallway as the 16 seniors walked through in their caps and gowns.
The organizer, Kara Christiansen, says one of her favorite teachers at Jane Addams suggested the march, and she and her friends agreed because they'd loved the school.
"I wanted to give them motivation to keep going through school. They can make it. We all did it and it was a great time, so we just wanted to show them to follow through."
After their walk through Jane Addams, the seniors posed for pictures and selfies on the playground.
Despite a few retirements, most of their teachers are still at the school, six years later, and probably more excited by the parade of former students than the younger children.
Commencement for Moline High School will be held Friday night at Wharton Field House.
