Grad Walk Inspires Young Students

A local principal hopes to encourage his students to graduate with an idea he got from social media. Today, Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Milan held a "Grad Walk," with graduating seniors from Rock Island High School.

Principal Mike Nitzel says the high school students wore their caps and gowns and walked the halls of their old grade school to help inspire current students at Jefferson.
Eleven-year old Natalie Smith, a fifth grader and student ambassador, escorted the 12 graduating seniors on a parade around the playground and into the cafeteria, where they had lunch with the kids. Natalie says she wants to follow in their footsteps.
