A new company is now running the cafe and special events at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport. Last week, the museum and Frontier Hospitality Group celebrated their partnership that officially began in January.
Figge executive director, Tim Schiffer, says having the cafe open for lunch during the week helps make the museum "a destination."
"For people to come here other than to see the galleries, and it keeps us in people's minds. And also if you want to come and see some shows and then you want to have lunch, you just pop in and do that. It makes another reason for people to come here."
Schiffer says during the spring and summer, the museum hosts a wedding nearly every weekend, and is also rented by Deere, HNI, and other companies for special events.
"They do events for employees, or if they have a group visiting from Russia for instance, they like doing it at the Figge where they can see the river. It shows them a little bit of a high end part of the Quad Cities."
The cafe is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday.
Frontier Hospitality Group has a one year contract, and replaces Heart of America that provided these services for the Figge for the past 5 or 6 years.
