- State officials in Iowa will be keeping a close watch over anew state-run family planning program, under an initiative unveiled at a statehouse committee meeting this week. The Department of Human Services will gather data to determine how services are affected now that Planned Parenthood clinics aren't included.
- The River Bandits are one win away from the 2017 Midwest League Championship after a 5-0 win over Fort Wayne Thursday night. The Bandits have a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. They have three chances to win one game at home to clinch the title. Game 3 is Saturday night in Davenport.
