News headlines for the morning of December 29, 2017
- A winter storm warning goes into effect at 11 a.m. and will last until 10 p.m. Forecasters are calling for about 5 inches of snow today. The city of Davenport is warning drivers not to park on snow routes.
- Despite the frigid weather, some elderly residents of Rock Island are climbing on buses to visit the office of the county assessor. Yesterday and today, 58 residents of Friendship Manor are applying for this year's senior homestead exemption, which would save them $500 on their 2017 taxes.
- Unemployment continued to fall last month in the Quad Cities. The Illinois Department of Employment Security says our rate went from 4.8 percent a year ago, to 3.9 percent in November.
- Most of Moline's 19th Street will re-open before the New Year.
