Franklin School Update

WVIK News

Classes could resume as soon as early next week for students and teachers at Franklin Elementary School in Moline. The school has been closed since Monday because of a fire last weekend that cause significant damage throughout the building.

According to the Moline district website, a meeting for parents will be held Saturday at 10 am in the auditorium of Wilson Middle School. Superintendent Lanty McGuire will talk about efforts to find a temporary location.

The website also mentions that "it's looking favorable that school will resume early next week, if possible."

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
