Evening News for Wednesday, January 31, 2018

tonight's headlines:

  • repairs on Government Bridge are done for this week, but there'll be more next week,
  • why the Salvation Army fell short of its goal for the Christmas campaign,
  • and in his state of the state address, the Illinois governor called for tax and spending cuts.

Cloudy tonight with a low around 19. Sunny on Thursday, with temperatures falling to 15 by late in the day.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
